Mission Databases

The test and development versions of databases are located on database servers named respectively miplTest and miplDev. When accessing a test or development database add a suffix of _t or _d to the mission's database name. For example, on the operational system, the Cassini Mission's database is named cassini. On the test system, it's named cassini_t. And on the development system, it's named cassini_d.

Select a link in the table below to get information on a Mission or to get a description of a mission's Database. Those databases without links are not yet defined. A lists of mission databases is also avaiable on MIPL database servers. Type the command sp_showMissions in a database access utility like dbView to retrieve the list.

MIPL Databases

These databases support MIPL multimission activities. If a mission uses FEI (File Exchange Interface) and the FEI database objects don't appear in the mission's database, then come here for documentation - you're using a multimission version of the database. The other databases listed here are used by the MIPL staff, and don't have much interest for people who want to look at mission specific data.

    fei
Documentation of objects that makeup the FEI database. fei is the generic name for a class of databases with names like fei1, fei2, and so on. Each the databases contains the same objects but supports a different set of missions. (Most installations would simply have a single database, fei1.)

Some large missions have their own FEI domain. In that case, the FEI database objects are included in the mission database.

    dba
Contains documentation of the objects used by the MIPL DBA staff.

    sigEvents
This database records system significant events. FEI servers write to this database as do some DBA related programs. Application programs that need to report events that should be seen by the operations staff can use it as well.
